Benjamin's Language

So here is a bit of translation help for anybody that is fortunate enough to spend some time with little Benjamin:

watee: water (I need a drink)
chank choo: thank you
peas: please
uh-oh: I just threw something on the floor. (probably food)
ballee: I want that ball that I see.
papaw: grandpa, or grandma-it works for both : )
hot: (hand held out toward object) that is dangerous--works for fire, cacti, ocean, whatever
stuck: I'm in my car seat and I want out.
owee: I'm hurt.
baby: any living thing smaller than Benjamin (worked for flies, ants, and babies)
men: amen

Actually, he's starting to say many more words and mimic sounds pretty well, I just want to make sure we remember some of the funny things he's done as he has started to talk.

Superman!

Grandma Sanders made Benjamin a great superman cape. He and Kade have had a great time saving the world together.

Family Reunion in Idaho

Benjamin and I are having a great time visiting family in Idaho. We flew in on Tuesday, July 15, and mom and dad picked us up at the Salt Lake airport. Benjamin did very well on the flight, much to my relief. On Thursday we headed to Nick and Laura's house. I love driving into that valley! It is beautiful right now, and the potato plants were even blossoming. We were able to attend a Myers family reunion at Ron and Lorraine's house in Soda Springs and had such a wonderful time. There are a lot of young children around and they had such a great time playing together. Benjamin mostly enjoyed the wide open space outside and playing with balls. Paul and Elaine's family all attended, and it's been years since I've seen all of them.

Happy Birthday, David!

David turned 28 on Thursday. Happy Birthday!!! We celebrated by having cinnamon rolls for breakfast, going to eat at an Indian restaurant for lunch, and going to a mechanical engineering barbecue for dinner. It was pretty fun because I got a large group of Chinese students to sing happy birthday to him. He got some socks, new running shoes, and an iPod shuffle for his birthday, so it was kind of a running theme. Benjamin and I love and appreciate David so much-here are a few of my favorite pictures taken in June during our visit to Oregon for Lynette's graduation.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a great 4th of July. We went to a barbecue for lunch and had Karl over that evening--we sent Janeece and Dusty on a date. The boys had a lot of fun playing together in the yard and experiencing sparklers. We put them to bed at the normal time, which was fine because the real fireworks didn't start until pretty late. David and I went outside on our front lawn and saw great fireworks displays from neigbors all around us. Pretty nice arrangement, if you ask us.

Do I dare?

After much resistance to the unfamiliar world of blogging I have decided to give it a try. Mostly for the same reason that Katie gave, I want to have a family journal to print out each year. Here goes nothing!
